Minutes From August 9, 2018

The college was called to order by Imminent Governor Tom Megel at 4:50 p.m.

Governor Megel began with an introduction of visitors.

Governor Megel then addressed the handout he called, "Bring the Spencer Award back to Iowa #37"
His first goal was to urge companion/knights to suggest nominees for women's awards and and fourteen or fifteen men for awards. He pointed out that the Gold Award can be given to any man who is a Blue Lodge Mason, not just York Rite. He set a goal of at least five patriotic events, and gave the example of visiting veterans in the hospital or other facility. He also wanted positive growth. It was then pointed out that we had positive growh this yeaar.

Past Governor Smithson asked Governor Megel to form an ad hoc committee to oversee the process of completing and filing the annual reports next year.

Grand Governor Greg Andersen gave a report on the annual meeting they had just returned from in Chicago. He regretably reported that the Spencer Award, which had been won the previous three years by Iowa #37, had gone to another college. Also, we did not receive Honor College status this year. Regent Hildreth replied that the Honor College status was actually unclear at this time.

Grand Governor Andersen also reported that Steven Libby and Governor Tom Megel had received the Purple Cross award.

The meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
