MINUTES May 5, 2017

Opened 4:00 pm by Governor Kevin Smith. 31 companions and sir knights signed the register.

The meeting began with a discussion led by Gov. Smith to promote IYRC in cities around the state. Dubuque and Albia were suggested.

Secretary McCampbell had a question on the eligibility for becoming a YRC companion. The pre-requisite for membership, which is by invitation only, is good-standing in all four York Rite bodies: Lodge, Chapter, Council and Commandery.

Grand Governor Gregory Anderson then spoke on several points.

  1. #37 conferring the second section of the 3rd degree at Gnemeth Lodge.
  2. Make sure everyone signs in at our meetings so our activity can be documented
  3. A delegation of 12 traveled to Dallas for the 60th General Assembly.
  4. #37 won the Spencer Award for the third year in a row, which is extraordinary because there are 194 colleges around the world.
  5. Companion/Sir Knight Bryce Hildreth was appointed a regent at Dalas, joining Companion/Sir Knight David Dryer who was appointed in 2015.
  6. #37 Companions/Sir Knights Gene Hatfield and Richard Bowersox were awarded Purple Crosses.
  7. The plaque will be displayed in the Masonic Center on Park Street.

A discussion was held on how to send information on activities to the new Secretary.

Past Governor Charlie Smithson suggested our meetings were too close together, and a tentative date was suggested for the first Saturday in December, which would be the 2nd. Gov. Smith will look into conflicts and report at a later date.

Secret ballots for candidates James Rouse and Christopher Stechman were held, and both were welcomed to become members.

Meeting was adjourned at 4:20 pm by Governor Smith
